The Ministry of Education under Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board [UBTEB] is next year going to publish names of institutions of high learning found involved in malpractices in the media.

This was revealed on Wednesday, 26th October 2023 by Geoffrey Kawanguzi, the Deputy Executive Director Human Resource and Administration (UBTEB) while speaking to hundreds of leaders from different institutes of higher learning from the Eastern region at Elgon technical institute located at Mbale city.

These leaders had a one day stakeholder post examination feedback workshop which is organised by UBTEB annually in every region.

According to Kawanguzi, malpractice cases during exams at different institutions of higher learning are increasing.

He adds that they have resorted to publish those institutions in the media starting next year such that they can reduce the cases because this is going to bring down the quality of students produced in Uganda and will not be able to compete on the world market.

Edgar Ruboogamu, the academic registrar who represented the principal of Elgon technical institute expressed his happiness with the government decision saying that it will reduce the malpractice cases.

He adds that some students bribe invigilators with money after getting them red-handed with answer sheets in examination rooms urging the government to increase the allowances of their invigilators such that they cannot be bribed.
