SIRONKO
The Sironko District LCV Chairperson has responded to threats of his impeachment occasioned by a section of councilors unhappy with his failure to reshuffle the District Executive Committee.
Livingstone Giruli who was reacting to media reports on Friday 27th October, 2023 has given reasons which have delayed the reshuffle of the district executive committee members.
The media had yesterday reported that a section of councillors like Muhammad Wakwaba, councillor of Namugabwe sub county, Maris Mudenga the Mutufu town council councilor and Fred Gidongo councillor of Busamaga sub county blame Giluli for not fulfilling the pact he made with the district council during council while approving the district DEC in 2022.
The said Councilors want the chairperson to make a reshuffle since he also promised them positions on the argument that some of the executive members, especially those subscribing to NRM are incompetent and are bent on failing FDC, the ruling government in Sironko come 2026 election.
While speaking to our reporter at his office later on Friday, Giruli said that the local government act empowers him with authority to disappoint or appoint any district executive member at any time but not being pushed by councilors.
He urged those councilors to concentrate on providing services to their people who voted for them rather than fighting him.
Herbert Musika, Secretary for Social Services also doubling as councillor for Nalusala Sub County says that those three councillors are speaking out of jealousy because they want the chairperson to drop the current team and appoint them instead.
He adds that FDC as a ruling government in Sironko district has to work with NRM members for development of the district saying they should bring to the floor of council the weakness of NRM executive members but not just making false allegations in the media.
