The U.S. Embassy in Uganda has issued another Travel Advisory for its citizens four days after the earlier one dated 6th November 2023.

The latest Travel Advisory rated Level 3 dated 9th November, 2023 is specifically against the U.S Embassy staff and citizens attending the Nyege Nyege Festival slated to take place in Jinja from November 9-12, 2023.

“Due to security concerns, we advise U.S. citizens not attend the festival.  U.S. citizens should also read our most recent Security Alert from November 6,” the Advisory reads.

Level 3 Advisory ideally means Reconsider Travel due to serious risks to safety and security. Level 3 countries are considered more dangerous for foreign visitors, who should “reconsider travel,” according to the State Department.

The alert also advises U.S. citizens to stay alert in locations frequented by tourists, enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas, follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter and visit travel.state.gov.

Yesterday, President Museveni said security agencies were guarding the Nyege Nyege Festival grounds and the Kyabazinga’s wedding venue. He however, also cautioned Ugandans to be on the lookout saying, the infiltrators are few and with vigilance, they will be captured.
