The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party leaders in Sironko district have called for free and fair elections during upcoming party primary elections as a way of avoiding independents and reclaiming all political seats in the district.

According to the NRM party road map, next year, 2025, they are going to conduct party primary elections from local to national level as they prepare for general elections of 2026.

While speaking during the district party liberation day on Saturday at Masaba secondary school play ground located at Budadiri town council, Asha Nabulo Mafabi, the NRM party flag bearer for Sironko district woman MP 2021 general elections said that  the party leaders who are coming as independents after losing primary elections are the ones who are weakening the party.

She cited her counterpart, Florence Nambozo, the current district woman MP who refused to respect the party after losing in primary elections.

Vicente Woboya, the former Budadiri East Legislator also NRM flag bearer for Budadiri east MP seat in 2021 general election says that FDC in Sironko is not strong as people think but its NRM party confusions which is making it strong.

He says that currently NRM has more district councilors and LCIII chairpersons in the district than FDC but at top position, NRM has none due to their fights and not wanting to back the flag bearers.

However, Francis Manyaku, the LCIII chairperson of Budadiri town council and on FDC ticket says that people in Sironko elected leaders at personal level but not at party level as NRM leaders think.

He adds that for the last 40 years, NRM has been giving people false promises in the district for example construction of  Nalugugu-Budadiri road, construction of health center III and a secondary school at each sub county among other promises which forced people to reject NRM candidates and opted for FDC at Sironko.

He says that in the next election, FDC is going to sweep all positions in the district based on the serious mobilizations they are doing on ground currently.
