Seven staff members from Sironko district local government who were interdicted last month by the Chief Administrative Officer over corruption, extortion and absenteeism have been summoned by the District Disciplinary Committee called Rewards and Sanctions Committee.

Nelson Kafuko Kirenda revealed to this website in June, 2024, that 5 Parish Chiefs from Zesui sub county were given Shs250,000 for each village for parish development committee to do works like organizing meetings, photocopying among other PDM works. The 5 however swindled the money after forging signatures of LCIs claiming that they were paid.

He said the town agent of Bukusege town council was also interdicted after abandoning duties and decided to reside in Kampala for months. The physical planner of Sironko town council was also interdicted after conning money from locals claiming that he was going to process land titles for them.

While speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview on Saturday, 20th July, 2024 at Sironko district head offices, Kirenda revealed that on Wednesday, 24th July, the committee is going to sit and give a fair hearing to the interdicted officers. He says the Committee will then recommend to him the appropriate punishments for each of the seven.

He however, emphasized that most of these Civil Servants will either be sacked, forced to refund the monies they ate or be given the final warning letters.
