Pastors’ wives in the Bukedi sub region have been asked to start their service to God in their families and then later extend to churches if the body of Christ is to holistically grow.
The call was made during a three day conference held at International House of Prayer by Pastor Sarah Bunjo, the team leader of Abigail ministries of empowering pastor’s wives as they discharge their responsibilities both in their families and in churches.
Sarah Bunjo told pastors’ wives to give their families time including planning for the economic well-being of their families that will help their households to become self reliant other than relying on only offertory from the congregation.
She noted that most pastors’ wives prioritize the church activities and abandon their families for maids and relatives. She argued that strong families will always produce strong pastors hence stronger churches.
Sarah Bunjo also asked pastors’ wives to empower other women within churches that they can delegate some responsibilities rather than tie all church work on their backs.
Judith Ojambo, one of the participants said the conference has helped change her perception arguing that in the past she used to look at church as a co-wife who takes most of her husband’s time but now she has learnt that the church is one of their children that she needs to nurture.
Annet Kimbowa, a pastor at higher life ministries said she was tired of seeing the pastor’s children caught up in drugs and immorality and she believes the conference has opened their eyes to build their homes.
The ministry also gifted the pastor’s wives with solar powered lamps and other valuable materials and pledged to open a skilling center to support pastor’s wives in the region.
