Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has commenced rehabilitation works of Manafwa-Bududa circular road after a serious massive demonstration by taxi drivers and boda boda riders last week.

On Thursday, 28th November, 2024, transport along Manafwa-Bududa circular road was paralyzed for the entire day after taxi drivers and boda boda riders from Bududa and Manafwa blocked the road by digging a five feet deep hole on the road at Buwangani Town Council.

They expressed their bitterness with government for paying less attention to the road yet it’s the busiest road which connects Bududa to other districts in Bugisu.

The road was impassable due to lots of deep pot holes right from Manafwa town council where it starts from to Bududa district.

While speaking to our reporter on Monday, 2nd December, 2024, Kosea Kigayi Kimono, the LCV chairperson expressed his happiness with the renovation saying his locals are now going to travel well.

He says the taxi drivers and boda boda riders from Budada and Manafwa had threatened a riot but he talked to them promising that he is going to contact Mbale region UNRA manager to see how to solve the problem.

Kimomo says that he is happy with the works that started on Monday, 2nd December but urged government to expedite the process of tarmacking the road as it was promised by the President such that demonstrations over poor roads can stop.

Dinah Nakombi, the UNRA Mbale region manager confirmed the maintenance road works.
