MBALE CITY

Uganda police Force and Mbale District Local Government have finally resolved the two year conflict over the ownership of Malukhu land located near Inzu Yamasaba head offices.

Last year, Tony Wamakale, the then Mbale district LCV Vice chairperson confronted police officers who had come to survey that land arguing that it belonged to Mbale District Local Government.

Wamakale accused Uganda police of trying to take the district land by force yet that land belonged to the Mbale district local government because they had documents.

Wamakale argued that in late 1990s, Mbale district gave police that land to put their housing quarters as a way of improving security in the area but time came police left the area and occupied part of the buildings belonging to Malukhu health center III where it was operating even of late.

Wamakale asked Uganda police to compensate the Mbale district local government to re occupy the land.

However, this conflict has been resolved today, Thursday, 5th December, 2024 with Uganda Police officially shifting its Industrial City Division Central Police Station offices to the piece of land where their structures are still in existence.

While speaking to our reporter, John Bosco Otim, the Elgon regional police commander revealed that Mbale district later realized that the land belongs to the Uganda Police Force.

He says that they wanted to leave the buildings of Malukhu health center III and occupy their land.

Muhammad Mafabi, the LCV chairperson of Mbale district says that both Mbale district and Uganda police force are government organs so they did not want to have long conflicts.

He says that the two sat and agreed to give Uganda police the piece of land in order to provide security Industrial City Division residents.
