MBALE CITY
A shocking discovery was made in Mbale city on Wednesday evening, 22nd January, 2025 when a street man, identified as Arajabu Khatoto, 50 years of age, was found dead due to excessive sniffing of aviation fuel.
Khatoto’s lifeless body was discovered at Road trench in Industrial Area, located in Industrial City Division, Mbale City by area residents.
According to Siraji Dumbo, an eyewitness, Khatoto’s body was found lying under a road trench with a bottle of aviation fuel in his hands, leading to suspicion that he died from excessive sniffing.
Dumbo reported that Khatoto had been sniffing fuel frequently and would often sleep on the streets with his colleagues.
Tom Higenyi, a local resident, urged the government to impose stricter regulations on the sale of aviation fuel to prevent such incidents.
By the time of reporting, the police had taken Khatoto’s body to Mbale City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Attempts to reach Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, for comments were unsuccessful after not picking our repeated calls.
