Parents of Bukise Primary Government School in Sironko district on Thursday, 6th March, 2025 turned violent in a demonstration against the transfer of the former Head teacher.

The parents say the former Head teacher, Peter Gogo was a performer as evidenced by a first grade achievement in the 2024 PLE results.

The parents who were protesting against the new head teacher, Ajala Namasaba, cut school crops, burnt toilets and the school kitchen, and locked the head teacher’s office.

Sam Wetaka one of the parents, claimed that Gogo was a good performer who had been with the school for 20 years.

Harriet Nambozo and Peter Womusi, all parents cited the school’s achievement of first grade last year, with the best pupil scoring 11 aggregates, as evidence of Gogo’s effectiveness.

Sarah Nambuya, the area sub-county female district councilor, also Secretary social services condemned the manner in which parents behaved by destroying school property.

Nelson Kiranda, the Sironko district chief administrative officer, condemned the violent protest. Kiranda urged parents to address their concerns in writing rather than taking the law into their own hands.

The incident has disrupted school activities, with pupils being sent back home by teachers. The head teacher’s office remains locked, and the situation remains tense.
