BULAMBULI
An angry mob of residents has lynched a man who killed his daughter’s boyfriend in Busiango village, Buwabwala parish, Bwikhonge Sub County, Bulambuli district.
According to Paulo Kimamati, the Bulambuli District NRM Chairperson and a neighbor, the incident occurred on Monday night, 10th March, 2025.
He says it all began when Yefusa Massette, 37, a resident of Busiango village visited his girlfriend, Godfrey Kabuto’s daughter, at midnight. Kabuto, thinking the visitor was a thug, attacked Massette with a panga, killing him on spot.
He says locals heard the commotion and, upon finding Kabuto’s body, lying in a pool of blood demanded that Massette come out of the house.
Kimamati adds that when he refused, they poured petrol on the house and set it on fire. Massette attempted to flee but was lynched by the angry mob.
The crowd then set fire to Massette’s house, kitchen, and another house where all property worth millions of shillings were destroyed including his crops like bananas, coffee among others.
Deputy Elgon Region Police Commander, Damiano Katwisime reported that police responded to the incident and took the bodies to Muyembe Health Center 4 for a post-mortem examination this Tuesday morning.
Katwisime cautioned against vigilantism, emphasizing that crimes should be reported to the nearest police station or local authority.
