MBALE CITY

A bitter dispute has erupted between Abubakr Kawanguzi, the head teacher of Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale City, and Mustafa Wabudeya, a physics teacher at the school. The conflict has been escalating daily, with both parties trading accusations.
In an audio released on Tuesday, 1st April, 2025, Wabudeya accuses the headteacher of locking up students who had not paid fees in the School’s library and some under a Mvule tree in the compound yet the school is a USE school.
“Why is he not addressing that issue? Instead he is telling the media a lot of lies. Let him come out in the open to deny that he never locked up students in the library?” Says Wabudeya.
However, during a recent press conference conducted on Saturday, Kawanguzi announced that the school has taken legal action against Wabudeya for spreading malicious information about the school.
Kawanguzi alleged that Wabudeya has been disseminating false information on social media platforms, claiming that the head teacher has hired people to kill him.
The head teacher attributed Wabudeya’s actions to a recent reshuffle at the school, which resulted in Wabudeya being removed as the head of the Physics department.
He says the school has reported the matter to police and currently
Wabudeya, is employed by the school’s board of governance, not government.
In response, Wabudeya on Tuesday, 1st April, 2025 denied the allegations, claiming that it is actually Kawanguzi who has hired goons to threaten his life.
Wabudeya stated that he has received numerous threatening messages and phone calls, warning him that his days are numbered. He expressed fear for his life, saying he is hesitant to go to town or school due to the perceived threats.
The situation has become increasingly tense, with Wabudeya publicly stating that if anything happens to him, Kawanguzi and his fellow teachers will be held responsible.
