The Entebbe Municipality Deputy Mayor, Charles Kabwama plus seven councilors have defied the directive issued by the Minister for Local government, Hon. Racheal Magyezi, to demolish all illegal structures that were mounted by councilors in Kitooro taxi Park.

The minister on April 9th, 2025 convened a meeting in Kitooro Taxi Park and ordered all councilors who mounted illegal structures in Kitooro Taxi Park to demolish them before April 14, 2025, but unfortunately none of the structures have been demolished by the defiant politicians.

The defiant councilors include Yasin Semanda Kyeyune, Mariam Nalwoga (wanted by police), Jackie Mirembe,  Asad Kitoogo, and Deputy mayor Charles Kabwama.

Despite Entebbe municipal council enforcement team labelling the structures with the word “Remove”, the defiant councilors have stubbornly refused to demolish them and one of the defiant councilors, Yasin Semanda today, Monday, 14th April spent the whole day in Kitooro Taxi Park assuring his tenants to continue working in the kiosks yet these structures were declared by the Minister as illegal structures.

Minister Raphael Magyezi last week told the selfish councilors that it is conflict of interest for them to own lockups in the taxi park and ordered them to return them to the Town Clerk, in addition to demolishing the illegal structures.

The Minister also ordered the mayor and his executive committee to relax the rent charges in both Kitooro Taxi Park and Kitooro market. The minister reasoned that by relaxing rent charges, it would attract more vendors to occupy the empty lockups in both Kitooro market and Kitooro Taxi Park respectively.

In related news, councilor Jackie Mirembe and Lovi Mangeni Wandera (chairperson Kitooro Taxi Park) who were detained on the orders of the Minister over alleged corruption were released on police bond and the duo spent the whole weekend boozing, celebrating their release from police custody.

Meanwhile, the Minister who was set to return today to officially enforce the trade order was unable to make it due to other engagements. However, a source revealed to us that he will return after Easter holiday to officially launch the Trade order himself.
