NAMISINDWA
National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party members in Namisindwa district on Wednesday, 7th May, 2025 raised their concerns about the participation of the NRM District’s Administrative Secretary in elective politics while holding a senior Party position.
Gerald Musamali is one of the Namisindwa County Member of Parliament aspirants on NRM ticket.
Peter Sawa, one of the MRM members says they are raising a matter of grave concern regarding the integrity of the ongoing party processes ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He says it has come to their attention that Mr. Musamali Gerald, the current NRM Administrative Secretary for Namisindwa District, has declared his intention to contest for the position of NRM Flag Bearer for Member of Parliament, Namisindwa County Constituency, while still holding the office of Administrative Secretary.
He says they wish to respectfully remind the leadership and all stakeholders that the NRM Party Constitution clearly stipulates that individuals occupying administrative positions, particularly those directly involved in the coordination of party structures and electoral processes, including the office of the Administrative Secretary, must relinquish such positions prior to engaging in competitive elective politics within the party.
Sam Kuloba, another party member says the continued occupation of this office by Mr. Musamali while simultaneously participating in the race for flag bearer creates a clear conflict of interest and undermines the credibility, transparency, and fairness of the party’s electoral processes in Namisindwa County.
However Gerald Musamali when contacted on WhatsApp replied that those raising complaints should go to the field and look for votes rather than wasting their time.
“They refer to the party constitution and I would like to ask them to quote the relevant laws of the party constitution. I don’t give time to propaganda, Let them seek votes in the field other than shouting for people,” says Musamali in a WhatsApp reply to our reporter’s question.
Aramazan Wabuko, the Namisindwa district NRM Chairperson when contacted on phone, promised to get back to our reporter but didn’t by press time.
