The Elgon North MP has missed death by a whisker after getting involved in a road accident at Kadama Trading Center, along the Tirinyi-Mbale highway in Kibuku District.
Hon. Gerald Nangoli who was driving his Land Cruiser (registration UNB 193V) from Tirinyi side heading towards Mbale City got into a head-on collision with a Toyota Harrier (registration UBL 086H) driven by Mafabi Banali, a 47-year-old teacher from Mukono District on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 at about 4:30PM.
According to Wilfred Kyapasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, Hon. Nangoli attempted to overtake a min coach bus and in the process the two vehicles collided head-on. He adds that in an attempt to avoid further collision, the Land Cruiser veered off and knocked into the parked Toyota Noah, which overturned.
Kyapasa says fortunately, no one was killed in the accident but rather got minor injuries. The scene was visited and documented by police officers led by No. 27297 Stg Moses Eriebu.
Both vehicles involved in the collision were towed and are currently parked at Tirinyi Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
