Councilors from Bumbo Town Council in Namisindwa district have urged the district authorities to establish a demonstration farm to promote farming in the area.

The councilors made this call on Monday, 9th June, 2025 after a study tour organized by John Musila, the area Member of Parliament representing Bubulo East constituency.

During the tour, the councilors visited various dairy farms, the Sipi Falls, and the Mt. Elgon National Park in Kapchrowa district.

Martha Muyama, a Namisindwa district councilor representing Bumbo Town Council, emphasized the importance of having demonstration farms where councilors and other leaders can go for study tours to change their mindsets and improve household farming practices.

Joseph Kamuli, the LC3 Chairperson of Bumbo Sub County, who led the team of councilors, noted that a demonstration farm would not only serve as a study site but also generate revenue for the district.

John Musila stated that the purpose of the tour was to educate councilors on the benefits of tourism, the importance of conserving Mt. Elgon National Park, and best farming practices to improve household incomes and food production.

Musila urged the councilors to apply the knowledge gained from the tour to develop Namisindwa district.

Jackson Wakwaika, the Namisindwa district LC5 Chairperson, confirmed that the district has plans to establish a demonstration farm through the production office.
