Jacqueline Mbabazi, wife to former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has entered elective politics and seeks to be in the next Parliament covering 2026-2031.

Jacqueline Mbabazi who was accompanied by husband, today, Friday, June 27, 2025 picked forms of interest to contest in the NRM primaries for the Elderly MP seat representing Western Uganda.

This is a significant shift in the family’s political stance considering that Amama Mbabazi ran against President Museveni in the 2016 national elections under his ‘Go Forward’ Political organization.

The two families subsequently fell apart until recently when President Museveni appointed Mbabazi John Patrick Mr Amama Mbabazi as a Special Envoy to South Sudan and Ethiopia.

Jacqueline Mbabazi’s candidature is proof that the two families have buried the hatchet and decided to work together for the good of the NRM Party that they both fought to build.
