The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has responded to claims by the Uganda Journalists Association that the Unit arrested two of its members.

The statement released today, Monday, 21st July, 2025 by the Unit, denies ever investigating nor arresting the two journalists based in Mukono.
Uganda Journalists Association had on Sunday, 20th July, 2025 issued a statement saying the State House Anti-Corruption Unit had arrested Eric Yiga and Kimbowa Ivan purportedly over an article they wrote about the Mukono Municipality Inspector of Schools.
“This is to clarify that while, State House Anti-Corruption Unit has conducting an investigation in Mukono district, the subject of investigation neither relates to the mentioned journalists nor has it led to their arrest and detention,” reads the Unit’s statement.
The Unit has asked the Uganda Journalists Association to provide accurate information so that those responsible for the arrest of the two journalists are identified.
Speaking to the media on Monday, 21st July, 2025, ACP Rusoke Kituuma said police is not aware of the arrest of the two journalists and referred the matter to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that had been accused of arresting the pair.
The whereabouts of the two journalists was not known by the time of filing this story..
