MANAFWA: Ex-Karamoja Affairs Minister Reveals Plans after NRM Primary Loss

Former Minister for Karamoja Affairs also doubling as Manafwa district Woman Member of Parliament, Mary Goretti Kitutu has revealed that she is not going to contest as an independent candidate in the general election in respect to the party position.

 

She revealed this today Thursday, 24th July, 2025 while speaking to the media.

 

Kitutu has served as Manafwa Woman Member of Parliament for ten years and was seeking a third term where she lost to Annet Musibikha, a new entrant in the recently concluded NRM primary elections.

 

In her message, she says, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Manafwa for the support you showed me during the recent NRM elections, as well as throughout the 10 years I have served in Parliament.”

 

She also thanked His Excellency the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the opportunity to serve in the Cabinet.

 

The statement reads further that; “Hon. Kitutu wishes to clarify that she will not be contesting as an independent candidate, but will instead focus her efforts on mobilizing support for the President in the upcoming elections.”

 

Manafwa district NRM results for recently concluded woman MP NRM primaries, show Annet Musibikha won with 34895 votes followed by Rose Mutonyi with 28691 and Mary Goret Kitutu with 10322 votes.
