Kampala Capital City Authority, (KCCA) has today, 6th August, 2025 launched the Kampala City Festival 2025 which has been fixed for October 5, ahead of Uganda’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary.
According to a brief statement by KCCA, the main celebrations will be at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

“This 8th edition will take place on 05th October,2025 ahead of the 63rd Uganda Independence Day anniversary. It aims to highlight the importance of creative expression, sustainability and culture as the city looks towards its future,” says Buzeki.
Sharifa Buzeki, had on Monday, 4th August, 2025 announced the return of the city celebration saying it is going to be bigger, better, and bolder.

The Kampala City Festival is an annual street celebration organized by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). It began in 2012 as a way to unite the city through art, business, and fun.
The annual Kampala City Festival was started during the reign of former KCAA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi Semakula.
Since then, it has grown into Uganda’s largest urban festival, attracting more than 3 million people in some editions. It usually takes place in October, turning key city streets into stages, markets, and party zones.
In 2014 it attracted over 2 million revellers cutting across different age groups and races.
The event includes music concerts, cultural parades, fashion shows, sports competitions, children’s activities, and more. For three days, Kampala becomes a buzzing center of joy and expression.
