The State Minister for Lands, Dr. Sam Mayanja has ordered the arrest of Busoga premier, Dr. Joseph Muvawala and the LC1 Chairperson of Buwekula village, Mr. Jamawa Kwegemya over accusations of unlawful eviction on the disputed pieces of land in Kainogoga and Buwekula village respectively.
Dr. Sam Mayanja, on September 4,2025, declared that land in Kainogoga and Buwekula villages belongs to locals not Busoga Kingdom as alleged by premier Muvawala who doubles as the Executive Director for the National Planning Authority (NPA).
The minister’s pronouncement followed concerns from residents including evictions, assaults, and intimidation allegedly sanctioned by Premier Dr. Joseph Muvawala.
“Enough is enough,” Minister Mayanja roared in a heated meeting with residents. “If the Kyabazinga himself lacks executive powers, who gave Muvawala the authority to terrorise citizens?” He questioned Muvawala’s powers to evict Kyabazinga’s subjects.
In shocking news, Minister Mayanja ordered for the closure of the highly prestigious Igenge Palace, the official residence of the Kyabazinga demanding it be “cleansed” of rogue Royal guards accused of clobbering innocent residents.
In response, the Kingdom’s Lands Minister, Fred Kyangwa, has accused Mayanja of overstepping his constitutional mandate and interfering in a matter still before courts of Laws.
“This is not just administrative overreach, it’s an outright contempt of court,” Kyangwa roared. “The land has belonged to Busoga Kingdom since the 1930s. We have the documents to prove that”
Mr. Kyangwa also claims that many of the land claimants had formal lease agreements with the Kingdom and accused opportunists of grabbing land under political cover.
In similar news, many of the relieved residents in the disputed areas described Minister Mayanja as a hero who has stood against impunity in royal clothing.
“For years, we’ve lived in fear. Our children have been threatened, our homes raided. What kind of kingdom does this to its people?” An elder narrated with tears rolling down his cheeks.
