Joel Funa, a candidate for Bunyole West MP, described Muyonjo, as a brainy school director who mentored many. He also condemned bad politics in Butaleja district, urging his colleagues in the race to always think before acting.

Funa, also emphasised that Butaleja district, is apparently very divided, with to vote people whose focus is on unity.

Muhammed Ali Hafunjo, the Butaleja district NRM Administrative Secretary, was by press time writing to the Independent Electoral Commission for the way forward, now that their flag bearer is gone.

Hafunjo, with tears in his eyes reported that it’s the first time for Butaleja district to lose a flag bearer, after official nomination. He, also revealed that Joseph Muyonjo, shall be buried on Sunday, in Bingo, Nawanjofu sub county, thus urged the NRM supporters to turn up in large numbers for the cause.

Muyonjo, served for 15 years as the district councillor for Nawanjofu Sub County, in Tororo district then. He also served as the Butaleja LCV between 2011-2016, when he lost the seat to Mr. Richard Waya.

Muyonjo, competed in the recent NRM primaries against 6 candidates whom he beat amidst illness.

Muyonjo, in his leadership, appointed Mr. Michael Higenyi Bore, as his vice, but they strongly fell out recently, when Muyonjo opted to bounce back on allegations that the incumbent had failed to lead the district.
