Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited has given an update on the 2 days blackout affecting most districts in Bugisu.
The Outage that was occurred on the night of Tuesday, 28th October has continued to Thursday, 30th October, 2025 with no hope of an imminent restoration.
In another statement issued today, Thursday, 30th October, 2025, Jonan, Kiiza, UEDCL Spokesperson, attributes the continued blackout to water that flooded the Mbale Sub-Station soaking most of the equipment making it unsafe to restore power in time.
Unlike, yesterday’s statement, Kiiza is reluctant to specify date and time that power will be restored to the affected areas of Mbale City, Nakaloke, Budadiri, Bududa, Buwalsi, Mpoogo, Sironko Town Council, Buyombo, Manafwa and surrounding areas.
“Our technical team successfully drained the Substation and worked throughout the night to ensure that all equipment is dry and safe for energization at the earliest time possible,” says Kiiza.
