BUGWERI
The territorial police in Bugweri are investigating the probable cause of the fatal crash in which four people perished and others injured at Butongole Railway crossing point.
According to Busoga East Regional police spokesperson, the crash which involved motor vehicle Reg no. UBN 282J Drone loaded with passengers and a Train, occurred on Saturday the 6th of December 2025 along Mbale- Tirinyi- Iganga Road in Busembatya- Bugweri District.
Initial findings revealed that the motor vehicle driven by a yet to be identified person, loaded with passengers was heading to Mbale direction, and upon reaching the railway crossing point, it rammed into a train in motion and overturned several times leaving 3 people dead on the spot.
One more person was pronounced dead on arrival at Iganga general Hospital, where several other passengers have been admitted for medical attention.
ASP Kasadha implored motorists and other road users to always fully adhere to railway crossing signals.
