The Ministry of Public Service has announced Friday 20th March 2026 as a public holiday to mark the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
The announcement was made through a letter dated 19th March 2026 and signed by Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
“The Honorable Minister of Public Service informs the general public that tomorrow Friday, 20th March, 2026 is Eid El Fitri and will be observed as a Public Holiday across Uganda,” reads the Public Notice.
The declaration of Friday as Eid El Fitri after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted on Wednesday evening.
