The Parliament of Uganda has suspended nomination of Members for the by-election of Uganda’s representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly, (EALA).
The notice of suspension was issued today, Saturday, 28th March, 2026 by the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige Kasaija.

The nomination to replace the two EALA MPs who have joined the 12th Parliament after the recent general elections were earlier scheduled for 30th and 31st March, 2026 until further notice.
The suspension follows the Attorney General, Kiwanuka Kiryowa’s request for Parliament to give him more time to study a letter written to the Ugandan Parliament, regarding the by-elections to fill two East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) positions that became vacant following the election of James Kakooza and Dennis Namara to the 12th Parliament.
