Entebbe Municipal Council Enforcement Team Demolishes Over 100 Illegal Kiosks

Entebbe Roadside traders operating in kiosks and containers are crying painful tears after a team of enforcement officials from Entebbe municipal Council demolished their structures.  The demolition followed issuance of a three- week notice instructing all traders operating in kiosks or containers to vacate them peacefully.

 

The municipal enforcement team led by Lawrence Onyango commenced the week long demolition exercise on March 30, 2026 and it’s still ongoing .

 

Onyango says the demolition is aimed at restoring sanity in the town through implementation of the Trade Order.

 

He revealed that council has several empty lockups and stalls in both Kitoro Taxi Park and Kitoro market.

 

In similar news, management of Entebbe municipal council has issued a notice to all residents, property owners and occupants ordering them to improve sanitation, infrastructure and property conditions in accordance with The Public Health Act (CAP 310).

 

The notice dated March 26, 2026 addressed to all Residents, Property Owners and Occupants of Entebbe Municipality reads in parts:

 

“Entebbe Municipal Council hereby issues this formal notice to all residents, property owners and occupants within the Municipality to take immediate steps to improve the general sanitation, safety and aesthetic condition of their premises and surrounding areas.

 

‘This notice is issued in accordance with the Public Health Act CAP 310, sections 52,53,55&70 relating to the prevention of nuisances  and maintenance of sanitary conditions. The Act mandates local authorities to ensure that all premises are kept in a clean and safe state, and empowers the Council to require corrective measures where conditions pose a risk to public health.

 

The Directive orders residents to undertake the following actions within 14 days from the date of issuance.

 

Paving and Maintenance of Access Areas

All property owners must ensure that access roads, walkways, and compounds are properly paved or maintained to prevent dust, mud and stagnant water which may facilitate the spread of disease.

 

Painting and Renovation of Structures

Buildings that are visibly worn out, defaced, or deteriorating must be repainted and maintained to uphold the standards of the municipality.

 

Demolition of Dilapidated Structures

Any building deemed structurally unsound, abandoned, or hazardous must be demolished or renovated in compliance with municipal guidelines to prevent accidents and health risks.

 

Cleaning and maintaining of Undeveloped Plots Owners of undeveloped or vacant land are required to clear overgrown vegetation, remove waste, and ensure that such plots do not become breeding grounds for pests, vermin, or disease vectors.

 

Waste Management

Every resident must have dust bin for waste storage and a service provider to transport waste to the designated disposal place.

Failure to comply with this notice will result in enforcement actions as provided under the Public Health Act, including but not limited to penalties, fines, or the Council undertaking the necessary works at the owner’s cost.

 

The notice concludes: “Council is committed to ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all residents of Entebbe Municipality. Your cooperation in this matter is highly appreciated.
