EXCLUSIVE! Defence Ministry Leads 9 Gov’t Agencies Owing NW&SC Shs75.3M in Arrears

Parliament has received an update on Government Ministries and Agencies owing National Water & Sewerage Cooperation Shs75.37 Million in unpaid arrears.

 

The list has Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs being the biggest defaulter with an outstanding balance of Shs40,387,154 as of March, 2026.

 

Following is the Uganda Police Force with an outstanding balance of Shs9,760,888 having pais Shs30,754,645 between July, 2025 to March 2026 out of the total arrears of Shs40,513,855.

 

The third biggest defaulter is Uganda Prisons with Shs5,774,408 in outstanding balance down from a staggering Shs33,121,618.

 

Number four on the list is Jinja Regional Refferal Hospital with an outstanding balance of Shs4,390,399 having paid a paltry Shs250,645 since July 2025 out of the total arrears of Shs4,641,044.

 

Closely following Jinja Regional Refferal Hospital is Mulago National Referral Hospital with an outstanding balance of Shs4,237,262.

 

Kyambogo University is at number six with an outstanding balance of Shs3,405,939 as at March, 2026.

 

At number seven is Gulu Regional Refferal Hospital with arrears totaling Shs1,358,989.

 

Others are; Nebbi Hospital at Number 8 with an outstanding balance of Shs963,457, Soroti Regional Hospital with Shs819,769 and Entebbe Hospital with Shs530,120.

 

Although the arrears as at March, 2026 stand at Shs75.3M, it is a remarkable improvement from the Shs110,186,021 that MDA’s owed NW&SC in July, 2025.
