MBALE CITY
IGG officers, led by Justice Aisha Nabuzze Batala, have grilled the Mbale City Engineer over alleged shoddy works on the Nakaloke-Namagumba Road.
Inspecting the road on Tuesday, 14th April, 2026, Justice Batala questioned how a road resurfaced six months ago with 4.2 billion shillings could be riddled with potholes, looking like it’s been neglected for ten years.
She says that value for money must be seen in all works at all local government levels as a way of improving on service delivery.
Northern City Division Mayor, George Bwanika says local leaders raised concerns over the road’s construction, but the engineer told them off, citing technical expertise.
Bwanika welcomes the IGG’s intervention sayin he now hopes there will be quality work and value for money.
Mbale City Deputy Town Clerk, Hasoho Jolly says matters are under IGG investigation, declining further comment.
Some of the residents expressed their happiness with the IGG’s intervention urging Justice Batala to inspect all roads in the City in order to appreciate the dire situation they are in before coming up with final conclusions.
