BREAKING! Gulu University Laboratory Technician Killed in Brutal Night Attack

A Gulu University Laboratory Technician has been killed by yet to be identified persons in a brutal night attack.

 

According ASP Ongom David Mudong, the Police Spokesperson, Aswa West, Nyeko Chris aged 40yrs was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, May 22, 2026 from Forest Cell, Pece Prisons Ward, Pece-Laroo Division in Gulu City.

 

Preliminary information obtained from relevant sources reveal that, before the deceased was murdered, he was first seen on 21/05/2026 at around11:30PM in a shop around Jaka gardens before shifting to D-Plus bar around the University area where he always hangs out with friends.

 

At around 5:30AM in the morning hours of Friday, it’s alleged that the deceased left D-Plus Pub heading home on foot only to be attacked shortly at around 5:40AM near St. Peters Catholic Church and Gulu University Proximity.

 

Further clues show that, the victim could have got into a misunderstanding from where he was hanging out prompting the assailants to trail him.

 

Mudong says neighbours of Welbongo Market who heard someone shouting indicates that there was an altercation between them before the victim was killed and his body searched by the attackers and some of his belongings robbed possibly including his phone.

 

The police commanded by the OC of Gulu CPS on information booked out to the scene and found the lifeless body of Nyeko lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road with his forehead bearing a deep cut wound suspected to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

 

The police Homicide detectives headed by the SOCO documented the scene by collecting exhibits of forensics values to back up investigations, statements were recorded from relevant sources and the body of the deceased was conveyed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

 

Much as this incident is regrettable, we urge people to prioritise personal security and safety to avoid life threatening encounters especially at night hours. Inquiries are ongoing and further developments shall be shared as they unfold.
