The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has given an update on registration of PLE, UCE and UACE candidates for 2026.

Addressing the media today, Friday, May 29, 2026, the UNEB ED, Dan Odongo says the registration of candidates for the 2026 national examinations is currently underway for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

He also announced that normal registration has been extended to 30th June 2026 to accommodate newly accredited examination centres.

Late registration will commence on 1st July 2026 and close on 31st July 2026 but will attract a surcharge of 100% for PLE candidates and 50% for UCE and UACE candidates

Odongo says there will be no further registration of candidates after 31st July 2026.

UNEB advises Examination centres to complete the registration process early within the stipulated period to avoid the congestion that usually occurs towards the deadline.

The ED also announced that government will continue to pay the registration fees of all candidates sponsored under any of the three programs of UPE, USE and Universal Post O’Level Education and Training Program (UPOLET)

However, registration fees for privately sponsored candidates have been maintained as follows; UPE-34,000, UCE-164,000 and 186,000 for UACE.

2026 UACE Candidates will be the first cohort to be assessed under the Competency Based Curriculum where the assessment is aligned to scenario based tasks.
