The Mbale District Engineer has been arrested by a joint investigation team over allegations of causing financial loss to the Government through negligence and failure to properly supervise a road project.
This was revealed by the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi on his X-Handle on Sunday, 19th July, 2026.
Although the Minister does not divulge details of the charge, the arrest of Eng. Robert Nakimoro is related to a recent inspection carried out by the Minister on 6 km Budhwale road on Wanale Hill.
Balaam says the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue adding that any other officials found culpable will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
“Public resources must be protected, and those entrusted with their management must be accountable,” says Balaam.
