MBALE CITY
Over three thousand residents from three cells in Mbale city are at the risk of being evicted from their land by two tycoons who are claiming its ownership.
The land stretches for over 20 acres covering three cells of Kiteso, Bulago and Mpumude at Namakwekwe Ward, Northern City Division in Mbale City.
The two tycoons who are claiming the ownership of that land are Wilson Wafula Wamuziru, the director of Lisa Primary School located at Namakwekwe Ward in Northern City and Yunusu Mukoli.
Miria Nambuba, one of the affected residents from Kiteso cell, says that with her late husband, Mutwalibu Lukola, they bought their plot in 1992 and they have all the documents.
She adds that it was a big shock when on Thursday last week after seeing unknown people coming with the aim to put down her house claiming to have been sent by Yunusu Mukoli. The men were however later stopped by the area local leaders.
Robert Kabiri, the LCI chairperson of Kiteso cell says he advised locals to go to court where they have currently filed their case.
He adds that currently matters of the two with residents are at Mbale high court waiting for the next decision.
However, when contacted on phone, Wilson Wafula Wamuziru declined to give a comment arguing that matters are at court.
