The Ngora District Woman Member of Parliament has donated a state of the art ambulance and a water bowser to ease service delivery for the area residents.
Stella Isodo Apolot of FDC made the donations on Monday afternoon as part of the events to mark her 100 days in Parliament.
According to the legislator, she was compelled to decide so after receiving so many calls from her Constituents and the district seeking for help to evacuate patients to major hospitals including Soroti Regional Referral hospital which she said is at a high cost to hire from neighboring ambulances.
The ambulance is estimated at UGX 100M and she is optimistic that it will help the target population especially during this period when the country is battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
It must be understood that people of Ngora have been using district official cars to help in transporting their loved ones who are in need of specialized treatment.
The woman MP also donated 1500 chairs and ten 100 seater tents. She also donated a water bowser worth UGX 100M in order to help in burial and other related functions.
Ambrose Onoria, the RDC Ngora while receiving the donation said the ambulance has come at the time when it’s mostly needed and will meet many health related needs.
He appreciated the good gesture by the legislator.
“I have been using my car and even that of the LCV to transport patients to different places. This donation has come at a time when we needed it,” Onoria said.
‘’It’s my first time to see a politician donating a well-equipped ambulance like this one. One can even be tempted to enter inside when they are not sick,’’ he said.
The district Chairperson, Odongo Mike hailed the legislator for the donation while asking government to equip all health center IVs with ambulances to ease health referrals and management.
