Government has projected that each household will be earning 20 million shillings per year in the next five years if the parish model program commences.
This was revealed by Edward Galabuzi Sozi, the national coordinator of parish development model program yesterday 8th February 2022.
Galabuzi said this while speaking to district and political leaders from Bukedi sub region at resort hotel during preparatory meeting of National Parish Model Program launch which will be at Kibuku district on 26th this month.
According to Galabuzi, government has tried several programs to uplift the living standards of Ugandans but it has failed due to many factors like technocrats embezzling the money, politicking, refusing to pay back the revolving loans among others.
He adds that this time the government is going to release money directly from the top to parish level such that it can be well monitored by parish chiefs.
Galabuzi also says that this will help the government to achieve its targets of each household getting 20 million in a year.
However, Emmanuel Pegee, the LCV chairperson of Budaka district disagreed with Galabuzi saying that the program is about to be launched but in some districts they lack enough technical officers at lower sub county levels who will monitor these programs.
He adds that Budaka district for instance out of 20 sub counties, has only six sub county community development officers who will be monitoring and sensitizing people about the program.
Jenifer Namiyango, the Woman MP representing Kibuku district also Minister for Bunyoro Affairs said that previous government programs like Operation Wealth Creations, youth livelihood, NUSAFU3 among others have been failing due to bad mindsets of people.
She also says that most of the beneficiaries go there with negative mindsets of getting money and misuse it on other things but not developmental which is not the same case with this parish development model.
Namiyango adds that selections have already been made by parish chiefs from different parishes about rightful people to benefit from the program.
