NAMISINDWA
Dorothy Nebokhe Walukawu, the current Speaker of Namisindwa district Local Council has officially declared her intention to contest for the position of District Woman Member of Parliament.
She declared this on Thursday, 14th March, 2024 while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at her office.
Nebokhe is a district female councilor representing Magale town council besides being a speaker.
She says that it’s high time to upgrade her leadership from district Councilor to parliament such that she can lobby for her district and represent it well.
Recently, media published names of Members of Parliament who are not coming back to contest in the next 2026 general election whereby the name of the current Namisindwa district Woman mp, Sarah Netalisile appeared although she has never come up with an official statement.
So far other candidates who have picked interest to contest on the same post are Peace Khalayi and Lydia Nabwire, the new vision journalist.
Namisindwa is one of the youngest districts in Uganda and since it was created it has been represented by two female members of parliament; Grace Watuwa Namukhula from 2016 up to 2021 and Sarah Netalisile from 2021 to-date.
