On 22nd August 2022, Pastor Kiganda wrote a passionate letter to President Yoweri Kaguta in his capacity as the President National Pastors Platform of Uganda.

In that letter, Bishop Kiganda was appealing to President Museveni to rein in on Police that had taken deliberate move to arrest Born Again pastors over noise pollution during their overnight prayers.

President Museveni’s 5 questions on noisy over-night worship

In reply, President Museveni asked the IGP to go slow on the Pentecostal Churches in this regard but posed five questions to Bishop Kiganda et al.

The Ssabalwanyi first asked whether the Bishop knew that the night noise disturbs people who are sleeping.

Knowing the answer automatically would be yes, he continued to ask, “If it does, is it Godly to continue doing it?”

Then he posed the 3rd question. “If the trans-night worship is for you as a team to praise God, why do you have to use Loud Speakers and disturb people who need quiet especially at night?”

The fourth question was even more combative, “Does God need Megaphone to hear your prayer or praise?”

Finally he asks, “If then your aim is to publicize your faith, why don’t you wait for the time when people have rested and are awake?”

Interestingly, two years down the road, Pentecostal Churches continue making noise for people in their over-night worship in complete disregard of the President’s concerns.
