The Institute for Internal Auditors on May 25, 2024, entered into partnership with the Uganda National Roads Authority ( UNRA) to plant trees along Entebbe Expressway so as to combat carbon emissions emitted by cars that use the Expressway.
The president for the Institute for Internal Auditors , Moses Kasakya said since May is a month of creating awareness of internal Auditors in Uganda as internal Auditors they have dedicated the month to conserving the natural environment through planting trees.
“We need to do something to improve our environment. I have advised all our members to plant a tree before the year ends. At least each member should plant a fruit tree or wood tree. The National Forestry Authority has given us the opportunity to plant many trees as we can. Trees bring about life since they absorb carbon dioxide and give us oxygen which we breathe in. We shall provide fertilizers for the trees we have planted to enable them grow, “Mr. Kasakaya pledged.
The Vice president for the Institute for Internal Auditors, Dorothy Kiyaga, said as internal Auditors they target to plant more than 1000 trees every year as way of protecting the natural environment.
The Board secretary for the Institute of Internal Auditors, Ronald Kirungi, said there is need to elevate the environment through continuous planting of trees and called upon the general public to embrace tree planting exercise.
The Project Manager Entebbe Expressway, Arnold Aryatuha expressed gratitude towards management of Institute for Internal Auditors for championing the tree planting campaign.
“Trees play a key role in cleaning the air from toxic gases. They also help to absorb carbon emissions which are dangerous to our environment,” he said.
