Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, a government owned company that has taken over the distribution of electricity following the exit of Umeme has shown how electricity tokens can be loaded.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 2nd April, 2025, UEDCL shows the simple steps of buying Light tokens using MTN and Airtel platforms.
For Airtel, Dial *165*4*1*2# and select Light Token to pay meanwhile those using MTN will have to dial *165*4*1*1# to pay.
Then Select 2 to buy Light token, enter your meter number, and proceed with entering any amount.
Like with Umeme, the Light token shall be sent on your phone via SMS and load it as usual.

The payment service went temporarily down on the first day of the takeover, 1st April, 2025.
