President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is currently traversing the Eastern region canvassing for votes to ensure his re-election in the 2026 general elections with many NRM Structures actively involved.
Leading the pack is the NRM Secretariat headed by the indefatigable, Hon. Richard Todwong, following is the National NRM Women League, Regional National NRM Vice Chairpersons and Patriotic League of Uganda, (PLU).
Conspicuously missing however, is the National NRM Entrepreneurs League led by Hon. Hassan Basajjabalaba. In the Teso region, where President Museveni is attracting massive crowds, the NRM Entrepreneurs League, according to inside sources is not playing any role at all.
The Bugisu sub region Entrepreneurs League leadership is currently radar-less on how it can contribute towards mobilizing support for President Museveni ahead of his impending visit, let alone canvass votes for the NRM Party’s Presidential Flag bearer in the January, 2026 general elections.
“We don’t know what is happening to our Chairman, other Leagues are actively mobilizing for President Museveni, except us,” complained a member of Mbale City Entrepreneurs League adding that the former Chairperson, Robert Kakuru was more present in canvassing votes for President Museveni.
“Hon. Basajjabalaba is making us look bad, the President may think we do not want to mobilize for him and yet it is our leadership that is not guiding and financing our efforts,” says another member who voiced his displeasure with a man he says he even never had the opportunity to vote.
Other sources intimated to our Desk, that Basajjabalaba is currently out of the country attending to a sick mother. However, the same source faults the NRM Entrepreneurs League Chairperson of failing to delegate responsibilities making them idle and looking unbothered about mobilizing for the Party Flag bearer.
