In what can be equated to a story of man biting a dog, a 45 year old woman in Sironko Town Council has dragged a 70 year old man for allegedly raping her.
The victim whose identity has been hidden says, Sulayi Mazembe a resident of Naluwali cell Mahempe ward , Sironko town council in Sironko district, raped her last evening, 20th June, 2023.
This was confirmed by Rogers Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson, who says Mazembe allegedly dragged the victim into his house on Tuesday evening while she was passing on a path neighboring his home while going to buy cooking oil at a nearby shop.
He adds that after taking her in his house he closed the door and raped her, after he threatened to kill her in case she revealed to third party.
Taitika also says that later the victim reported the matter to Sironko central police station under number CRB 399/2023 which police used to arrest him and he is currently in custody at Sironko CPS waiting to answer charges of rape since police has Exhibit of a knicker belonging to the victim and petty coat recovered from his house.
