As a way of improving health in Mbale city and Mbale district, Dorabo tours and travels has organized a marathon to fundraise 15 million shillings to buy mattresses for different health facilities.
This was revealed by Michael Nandala Eddie, the executive director Dorabo tours and travel while speaking to the media in a press conference organized at Wash and wills hotel on Tuesday, 3rd October 2023.
According to Nandala, the marathon is going to be on 7th and 8th this month and many people from Bugisu and other different organizations will be part.
He adds that they will run from Mbale city to Wanale and others will go up to Kapchrowa before coming back.
Nandala says that the money which will be solicited from the marathon will buy 120 mattresses for Bufumbo health center III, Busamaga health center III, and Namatala health center III.
Winnie Nabuba, the senior tourism officer of Mbale city urged the people of Mbale and the surrounding districts to participate in the marathon saying this will promote tourism in Bugisu.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, says that police will give security to those who will participate in the marathon.
