Fresh landslides have hit two sub counties in Namisindwa district leaving crops and houses buried.

According to Noor Mwelu, the Bukhabusi sub county to district councillor, the landslides happened at Bukhabusi and Buwatuwa Sub Counties.

He says that the landslide swept away crops like bananas, cabbages, tomatoes, coffee and one house but no lives were lost at Bukhabusi parish and Busekele at Buwatuwa Sub County.

He urged the concerned authorities to hurry and support people in the area since some have vacated their areas due to continued rains and cracks in the area.

Apollo Masika, the area Member of Parliament representing Namisindwa County in Namisindwa district while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview this morning at his home located at senior quarters in Mbale city, urged the LCIII Chairpersons from the affected Sub Counties to assess the situation and report to the district such that he can report to the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness.

He says that more fresh cracks have been seen at other neighbouring sub counties like Bupoto, Tsekululu, and Buwabwala.

Masika says that people living in areas where the cracks have developed should vacate the area so that they don’t become victims since rains are still on.
