Jimmy Nambiro, the Butaleja Assistant Resident District Commissioner has asked the Butaleja Police to re-arrest the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Mr Moses David Isiko for allegedly embezzling Shs35M.

According to Nambiro, Isiko who is currently on the run, is accused of embezzling Shillings 35 Million meant for monitoring government programs.

The district received the money in question from the government in the FY2022/2023.

Isiko allegedly withdrew the money for monitoring and supervision of government programmes and projects to pay Butaleja district departments which were never paid.

According to Nambiro, on the 29th day of 2023, one Mr Ben Marley Lawrence, the then Ag. Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Butaleja local government reported a case of embezzlement  of 35 million shillings meant for  monitoring and supervision of programmes and projects by the district Chief finance officer (CFO) Mr Moses David Isiko for financial year 2022/2023.

The case file was registered vide BTJ GEF 12/2023 and later BTJ CRB 221/2023 to facilitate the investigations.

He explains that upon tasking Isiko, he admitted having diverted the money for personal use.

Nambiro says that if Isiko doesn’t return the money, he will not be allowed into office anymore, but Isiko has decided to run into hiding.

The investigations indicate that there is gross abuse of taxpayer’s money by Isiko.

Nambiro says that Isiko was interdicted and someone was found to Act as Chief finance officer. Isiko has not yet commented as he couldn’t be reached by this reporter since his known contacts are off.

However, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner Butaleja assures the locals that Corruption is going to be wiped out of Butaleja soon using all State Agencies.
