A Primary Four Pupil has not only made history by contesting for the Head Prefectship against his seniors at Primary Six, but also went ahead to win by a landslide.

This happened at Guild Nursery and Primary School in Bukedea District on Friday, 21st June, 2024.

Eric Opus tussled it out with two other candidates, all in P.6 identified as Emmanuel Osekeny and Moses Okwalinga.

Mr. Julius Caesar Namasa, the school returning officer, says Eric Opus scooped 210 votes beating off his closest challenger, Emmanuel Osekeny who could only manage 26 votes. Moses Okwalinga’s votes were nullified.

“With due respect, power and authority entrusted on me as a school returning officer, I therefore declare Mr. Eric Opus as a winner for the position of the head prefect,” said Mr. Namasa.

Mr. Namasa also added that the results Moses Okwalinga were nullified because of malpractices.

“My office also discovered that one candidate used ballots which were not printed by our office, so in regards to that, his results were nullified”, added Mr. Namasa.

Mr. Eric Opus, who emerged as a winner told this website that it’s his first time to participate in school politics and in particular the position of the school head prefect.

He said as trusted by fellow pupils, he is going to ensure peace, unity and good coordination between the school students and the school administration.

Emmanuel Osekeny, his closest rival accepted the defeat saying he is going to work jointly with the elected head prefect.

Mr. Joseph Okorom, the school director said it’s the first time for a primary four pupil to become a head prefect.

“I am just impressed to see that a primary four pupil beats primary six pupils with politics,” said Mr. Okorom.
