The Entebbe municipal council engineering department headed by it’s municipal Engineer, Christine Nanfuka has approved the renovation of a four classroom block (Lower section) at Lake Victoria school.
The renovation works kicked off this week on Tuesday 14 January 2025 and the ground breaking ceremony was officiated by Nanfuka.
Council contracted MKRON Company Ltd to do the renovation works which include removal of asbestos and replace them with modern iron sheets.
According to Lake Victoria school headteacher, Stephen Nabende, the renovation works is part of celebrations to mark the school’s 100 years of existence and that the celebrations will be crowned with the construction of a secondary school which begins next year.
He says the school will be named Lake Victoria secondary school and will be fed with students from the primary school section.
It should be noted that the Lower section currently under renovation was previously for children of black people specifically for senior civil servants while the upper section was for children of the colonialists then.
Among the notable alumni who went to Lake Victoria school include Lady Sylvia Naginda Nabaggereka (Queen of Buganda), Maj. Gen. Moses Rwakitarate (military attached to Brussels and Justice Julia Sebutinde among others.
