The Department of Meteorological Services in the Ministry of Water & Environment has explained why the month of February, 2025 has exceptionally been hot.

In a statement released on Friday, 28th February, 2025, the department confirms that February is the hottest month in Uganda with this year’s being hotter than the rest.

“This year got strengthened due to the delayed onset over SW, W, and parts of Central,” reads the statement in brief.

To compound the situation, the department says two Tropical Cyclones in the S.W Indian Ocean have been sacking moisture meant to come into East Africa via South-easterly and North-easterly winds.

This however, according to the department will be ending soon. Recently Uganda witnessed excessive heat with Kampala at one time experience a temperature of 29°C.
