A private security guard attached to G.K.O Security Company has been shot dead as he and colleague attempted to rob the same bank they were deployed to guard.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the deceased is Emmanuel Okao while his accomplice who surrendered to police is Justine Okello, 27.
He says the two who were deployed to guard the Bank on Sunday, 27th April, 2025 hatched a plan to rob the same facility they had been deployed to protect.
He says preliminary investigations suggest that the duo instead of going back home after their duty, climbed and hid in the ceiling waiting for the night to fall before they make off with cash.
The plan however, leaked to police at 1:30 AM who promptly dispatched officers to the Diamond Trust Bank’s Wakiso branch.
He says when police ordered them to come down, the duo allegedly cocked guns ready for an exchange. In the process, police responded and released live shots into the ceiling killing Okao.
Justine Okello surrendered to the police and was arrested. Police recovered two guns from the scene.
