State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested and arraigned two persons in Ibanda district who decided to keep on wearing UPDF Uniform in order to intimidate residents off a contested piece of land.
The duo Joseph Mucunguzi alias Munde and Champion Julius appeared before the Chief Magistrates Court in Ibanda District on Wednesday, 28th May, 2025 on charges of wearing UPDF uniforms without permission, violating section 152(1) of the Penal Code Act.
The two, along with others who are still at large, allegedly wore UPDF uniforms on several occasions to intimidate residents of Kyembogo village in Karangara Ward, Bisheshe Division, Ibanda District.
This was part of an effort to forcefully evict the residents from land that is under dispute with Mbabazi Vincent, who illegally obtained a title for the land.
They have been remanded until June 11, 2025.
