TORORO: 55 Kenyan Namugongo Pilgrims In Critical Conditions After Nasty Accident

About 55 Namugongo Kenyan pilgrims are in critical condition after their bus crashed on June 4, 2025, at approximately 09:40 AM in Opedede, Osukuru Town Council, Tororo district.

 

The accident involved a yellow Isuzu Bus, registration number KCQ 057 Q, driven by Charles Ndirangu , a 58-year-old Kenyan national.

 

The bus, carrying 55 pilgrims from Namugongo, Kampala, to Kenya, overturned after the driver swerved to avoid a collision with an unidentified truck that was overtaking in a blind bend.

 

According to Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South region police spokesperson, the incident resulted in injuries to numerous passengers, with some sustaining serious harm.

 

The victims, all Kenyans, have been identified and are receiving medical attention at Tororo Main Hospital. The District Traffic Officer and other authorities visited the scene and the hospital to assess the situation. Most of the victims are reportedly out of danger.

 

He says the police are investigating the cause of the accident, and the bus has been impounded at Tororo Central Police Station pending inspection. The scene was documented by the DPC Tororo and team.

 

Mugwe names some of the injured as Rebecca Ndiritu ,Julius Waweru, Esther Wabera, Lilian Wagala, Anastasia Wanjiru, Joseph Gitau and many others.
